Normally, I only like to share new things, but this time I wanted to bring the attention back to someone I was obsessed with last year. Lately she's been gaining publicity like crazy (I've been seeing her on wearehunted.com and all sorts of other things).

Is incredible.

Personally, I will never get over my obsession for her song Starry Eyed. It's very choppy, but I think that's why I love it so much, because really, I fawn over things which flow only because they fall a part (if that makes sense). Anyways, it's a gorgeous song to dance to and nothing is better than that.

On another note, I've also been extremely impressed with the Morning Benders new album, The Big Echo. I think the music for this album is exactly like the album cover, going to the beach. I feel like it could almost be the soundtrack for a roadtrip to the shore, and not a beach like the jersey shore, more like the beaches in Washington and Oregon. Dunes, rocks and islands jutting out of the water in the distance, long stretches of sand with no one to be seen. It's serene, yet wild and untamed. Songs on this album can be put to you driving to the beach, dancing with your friends, sitting in front of the fire, it's basically a movie soundtrack in my opinion (but I also have an overly romantic sense of imagination, referring to romanticism of course). Basically, I love this album, love love love.

Lately, I've been feeling terribly and exhaustingly restless. Causing me to go in to throws of creativity and endless searching for something to fill the gap.

But, seriously. For once in my life I decided to do something practical and major in Business. Wrong idea, since as I should have known, I'm really not a practical person, nor am I whimsical. I don't know how to classify myself yet, but I do know that I enjoy stumbling upon musical gems.

New obsessions? Two Door Cinema Club

I could go into detail and get all pitchfork-esque, but that's really not on my agenda for tonight. I just wanted to put up some up beat and danceable music. Personally, I think these dudes sound a lot like Phoenix's latest album with a slight spice of Vampire Weekend's first album, but not really sure. But whatevs, their full album just came out on March 1st (oh so exciting) and I can't wait to get it. Pretty sure it's not even out on US Itunes just the UK, (just like how Delphic was, which is total cock and bull by the ways).

Anyways, Irish men are hot, thus making this band hot. BLAM...now listen

This song, My Love by Jihae, was exactly what I was looking for today, calm, soothing, and enchanting. Her voice is absolutely incredible, if pouring rich melted chocolate could be a sound, this would be it. My Love is off of her new LP Fire Burning Rain which will be out this upcoming July.

Her stuff is great for those times where you just kind of feel like getting away from everything and everyone. It's easy to float away to the sound of her voice, and I'm more than willing to escape reality for a little bit.

Candy Claws is one of my new obsessions, they created this album so that every song flows into one another to portray a feeling of serenity and embody the sounds and feelings of the ocean. These kids are from Colorado (surprisingly, not much has been coming from there lately), which kind of fits since their sound it's so organic and ecclectic. Anyways, I'm in love with this song Lantern Fish, it kind of makes my heart melt.

I know that urrrveryone prob knows about this already, but I am just so fucking psyched that it hurts, and if you don't I'll fill you in. Vampire Weekend released a new song, Horchata, and this upcoming January they will have a new full-length-soph album out for all of mankind to enjoy. LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN

This song makes me so happy that it kind of hurts, which is just sick, but in a good way, like a mad beast kind of way....can't wait til Jan for the revamped VW....

Deerhunter...what a grand band. But what about break off solo ish Atlas Sound?

Two words:

Mad Legit

I am extremely satisfied with Logos, I'm normally a bit skeptical of break off ish but this was a success (and frankly, how could it not be? It's fucking Bradford Cox). This album def has a different sound from Deerhunter, it's a bit more electronic and eclectic noise. The songs have a sense of otherworldliness to them as rando sounds drift in and out of the soft wallowing of Cox's voice.

Personally, my fave song is Walkabout. It's a bit more poppy and upbeat then the other songs, which is just what I've been needing these days.

Yes, I love thrifting.

Yes, I hate spending money.

But, I would most def spend on Preloved.

Preloved is a little store with a big name on St. Laurent up in the plat. They sell clothes made out of recycled clothing. Vests are made out of old menswear pants, jackets out of skirts, skirts out of shirts, and the list goes on...They all have one thing in common, every single piece of clothing is absolutely adorable. The prices are steep, with sweaters going over the 100 dolla bar, and my supah cute mittens were 22. But once you put this one of a kind clothing on, everything seems incredibly better, not to mention incredibly cuter.

Also, new fave band of the day/week= Built to Spill...just came out with a new album (There is No Enemy), but I recommend listening to their earlier stuff too! Too bad they aren't coming to Montreal, but they are going to Seattle (of course I won't be there...oh well).

Since relocating from NJ to the West Coast, I have been deprived of a good bagel for pretty much the last 4 years...until I came to Montreal and found the greatness that is Fairmount Bagels. Open 24 hours, fresh bagels at any time, and nothing is better than that sweet aftertaste of a hot Fairmount sesame seed bagel. This ish is so good that you can eat them straight, no butter no cream cheese. It brings in a diverse crowd of housewives running errands in the morning, construction dudes on their break, and of course, hipsters after a drunken night out (or after leaving the bar). Thinking about it, I was introduced to Fairmount by a dude (my friend asked him if he was a hipster, and he quickly said no, but I still think he is since that's what all hipsters do) after meeting him at Green Room (bar on St. Laurent). I thought I wouldn't want anything, but once I stepped through the entrance and smelled the delicious scent of freshly baked goods, I cracked and discovered the greatest drunk food of all time...even better than Pita Pit and that's saying a lot.

How is it possible for one school to churn out so many amazing bands? Fuck if I know, but it's pretty freaking grand. Granted, some of them formed post-Wes (and in Brooklyn, breeding ground of all that is great and hipster)...BUT STILL, this place is making some cracked out ish.

Amazing Baby: First off, they have a song called The Narwhal, that in itself is epic. Anyone who can have a song about the unicorns of the sea are incred. Seriously though, they have a great sound kind of like the Cure but with more echoing. Their album Rewild is kind of random in it's genre with poppy, folk, and rock songs. I think they have something for everybody, but more importantly they have a song called the Narwhal and everyone should have an epic animal song name in their library.

Oh and they're in montreal in december...

It's what everyone wants to know. And what everyone wants everyone else to not know. (If that makes sense).

These delicious morsels of music usually have ridiculous names that you most likely will forget by the time you walk out of your "hidden" bar and you wake up from your drunken stupor.

For Example:

"Aw man, this mad hot guy told me the name of this new band, it was playing at the Green Room and everyone was going crazy, what was that again?"

"Holy Flying Monkey Shit?"

"No, that's not right"

"Love Be Still Heart Pound Fast?"

"Ugh, no, fuck being hung over and blacking"

What's the best though, is when you go up to a "hipster" and start talking about your new find, like when me and a friend went to Solin (the weird rez for McGill) and shared our love for Goats on Acid (a band we made up). We would tell them about how elusive they were, the enigma of music, and that you couldn't find them online because they didn't believe in giving into the corporate misery that is the internet. All we did was spew lies, and they would nod AND ACTUALLY SAY THAT THEY KNEW WHO THIS BAND WAS!

What's wrong with the hipster culture?

When you talk about an actual band like Neutral Milk Hotel, they don't know, but when it's fake they do?

I Miss Seattle

The flannel, the vibe, the outdoors, the beauty....I miss it, I miss Seattle. Montreal is great but let's be serious, it's just not the same. Sure I can drink everyday and school is interesting, but I just haven't found the nitch that I had back home. I need to find some seattle-esque places to go, no more of this slut-it-up-expensive cover charge-greasy guys-ridiculously priced drinks-club bullshit. I need a fucking cheap bar, market, and coffee shop. I don't ask for much. Just a little less euro trash, that's all.
